This is where it all ends 017/365 #project365 #enero #january #2017 My friend's aunt died today and I helped her with the arrangements, including a trip to one of the local public cemeteries. As a lawyer in a third-world country I'm used to dealing with public institutions and their under-paid, poorly educated employees, but today was an experience in itself. The place has been "cleaned up" by the new authorities, but what is supposed to be a place where you lay your relatives and friends to rest is nothing more than a pig-pen. The employees were being so loud I even had to ask them to lower their voices, you are told to be careful because people get mugged there all the time, but you see random citizens walking by as if they were strolling around a simple street. The place is just dirty and really uncomfortable. I had to deal with 2 employees, one whose only job was to receive the money I gave her and the other one issued me a hand-filled receipt. Not only did they not have change (they kept the difference without giving me further explanation) but one of them bluntly asked me for a tip. My poor country...
