I take them and put them aside on my nightstand (because I’m not really into sweets) and take the banana back to its place. We have a real passion for baseball. Our baseball tournament is played during Winter, with currently 6 teams. Today Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, home of the Leones del Escogido and the Tigres del Licey, burned down minutes before a scheduled round robin game. It’s too soon to tell (the fire is still ongoing), but apparently it was due to faulty wiring in the press box (locally known as “Seventh Heaven”). The stadium, located in Santo Domingo (our capital) was built in 1955, and though it has undergone remodeling several times, the fire doesn’t come as a surprise. For us this is a tragic event. I chose this picture for the prompt not because I belong to an opposing team (the Aguilas Cibaeñas), but as a tribute for all the good times each and everyone of us has had at this legendary place. I’m sure it will rise from the ashes as a Phoenix and bring us joy for many years to come.

Cojan pijama ahí 360/365 #project365 #diciembre #december #2017 He visto con asombro como muchas de la personas en mis timelines de diferentes redes sociales se han pasado el día quejándose por las fotos navideñas de familias en pijamas. Y digo con asombro porque estas son las mismas personas que se pasan el día subiendo selfies (amigos, algunos de ustedes no son fotogénicos, por si no lo sabían, fotos de sus (a veces horribles) hijos, de su atuendo, de sus vehículos, de sus comidas, de sus tragos, de sus mascostas, de una flor machucá... en fín, se pasan el día subiendo fotos que para otros son puros disparates. Igual estos son los que pusieron sus arbolitos en septiembre y se la han pasado subiendo una barsa de cosas más en estas épocas. Y ahora les molestan las fotos de las pijamas. Tan lindas que son porque, en mi parecer, reflejan intimidad familiar y deseo de compartir con sus seguidores un lindo momento especial. Nada, si no le gustan las fotos de las pijamas dele con la U a esos “ridículos” y siga subiendo selfies con boca de pato y del escote sePsy de su vestido. La intolerancia es un camino de dos vías. Antes de ver la paja en el ojo ajeno mire la viga en el suyo. Viva y deje vivir. Me voy a darle uso a mi pijama. Bai.

I’ve been sleeping here since May of 2016, when my father was admitted to the ICU before passing away. Aside from a few days when my aunts came to visit mom and a couple of weekends when I went away, I’ve been sleeping here, on dad’s side of the bed, besides mom. I will sleep here until it is her time to go. Some say I should go back to my bed, but they don’t know what it feels like to sleep on an empty bed when you were used to sleeping besides your husband for 57 years. I don’t want her to feel alone, I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing she’s by herself and although there are other people sleeping in the next room, they suffer from selective hearing and most probably wouldn’t notice if something happened or if she called. I don’t mind sleeping here (even if she sleep-exercises and unknowingly slaps me in the face every now and the or if I get waken up by her moving her feet up on down), it gives her comfort and I feel not only comforting but comfortable as well.

Las cosas podrían estar peor, ese podría ser yo, casi a media noche, en la cama de una “planatenera”, sobre unos cartones viejos y sucios, tratando de buscar la forma de “levantar” los “chelitos” de la comida de mañana a como de lugar. Y sin embargo yo voy cómodamente en Vickiana, camino a techo seguro, a un rico y caliente baño y luego a una cama cómoda y limpia, con la seguridad de que mañana me desayunaré mis habituales huevos revueltos. Nada, que a veces nos preocupamos tanto que perdemos la visión y la conciencia del entorno.
