Ves tres motores, un camión de transporte de valores y no ves carros delante de ellos, el tránsito paralizado, de inmediato piensas que es un atraco. Al final fue un pendejo saliendo de Sonoma que estaba bloqueando el tránsito (5 minutos, gracias). Mientras tanto, te asustas, miras para los lados, tratas de encontrar una vía de escape, esperas el tiroteo, piensas que te van a atracar en el tapón o a matar en el intercambio de disparos, te desesperas... En fin, hay que amar mucho a este país para seguir viviendo aquí.

Estaba escéptica al principio pues, como toda buena dominicana, entendía que la cerveza se sirve por el borde, sin espuma, o se bebe "a pico e botella". La explicación es complicada, algo de las moléculas y anhídrido carbónico y el sabor, pero lo cierto es que la cerveza sabe muchísimo mejor y "cae" fabulosa en el estómago (y no hay que ir tanto al baño). Earlier this year the same thing happened at a mall on one of the exclusive areas of the city. My country is falling apart, things like this happen every day with no punishment because the "authorities" are too busy stealing from the rest of us. God help us all.

Those 3 million, notwithstanding their age, have cars and they invite their relatives (with cars) over on Christmas. I live less than a kilometer away from my office, usually it takes me around 8 minutes to get there. It's been taking me up to an hour to get to work these past few weeks. Today I got stuck in a traffic jam trying to get out of a mini mall 3 blocks away from home. 25 minutes it took me to get to the exit because the street was so packed the cars weren't moving. Freaking unbelievable.

Books were delivered home on a regular basis and were eagerly read by them. I, following their example, read them as well (as well as all the encyclopedias that were at my reach). Aside culturally enriching, these books were beautiful works of art. There's a whole bunch of them at their place, just waiting for me to read them once again.
