Brechando al eclipse 233/365 #project365 #agosto #august #2017 Cerca de las 2 de la tarde subí al techo de palomar, lentes en mano, para ver el eclipse. No conté con que el techo es blanco y el reflejo del sol y el calor iban a hacer estragos en mí en tan poco tiempo. No habían pasado 15 minutos y ya estaba completamente deshidratada. Tuve que bajar "juyendo" a buscar par de botellitas de agua y un abanico. Volví a subir ya "armada" y lista para disfrutar del eclipse... que duró 30 minutos porque se nubló y comenzó a llover. La intención es lo que vale y por lo menos pude disfrutar de algo en vivo, el resto lo vi por tv y de otros países porque no conseguí nada local. Será para el próximo (en cuchumil años).

Sin embargo el árbol retoma sus fuerzas y con la entrada de una nueva estación del árbol salen hojas más hermosas y fuertes que nunca y entiendes entonces que el árbol simplemente estaba en proceso de crecimiento y que para ello tenía que pasar por ese proceso. For a while now I have been asking the Lord to make me a better person. In return he has been putting me thru anguish, hardship, sorrow and pain and it was not until today that I understood that the only way for me to become a better person is to go live what I'm living and when all this is over I will most surely be a better person. See, the guy upstairs listens when we ask for things, he really does, and sooner or later if those things we ask for are beneficial for us he will send them our way. The thing is that due to what some call his ironic or sarcastic sense of humor, he has a wicked way to give us what we ask for. I know all will pass and in the end I will rise victorious and with the knowledge required to become a better person, which is what I was asking for in the beginning, the thing is I forgot to ask that the road to goodness not be so harsh. I know, he works in mysterious ways and we are forged by fire, so I accept it and will keep on walking this path to gain my reward in the end. Nevertheless, word to the cautious, be careful what you wish for. As for my soul, well, I'm certain it currently weighs more than 0.741 oz.

La foto más vieja que había visto había sido de su graduación de la universidad en 1956 y una que otra foto compartida por terceros de su vida social en La Vega en bailes y reinados, aparte de un álbum de su boda. Increíblemente mis padres tuvieron una juventud muy interesante. Vivieron en varios lugares del mundo, entre ellos la Guyana (antes Guyana Inglesa), donde nació mi hermana. La respuesta a la pregunta de qué carajo hacían ahí es sencilla: mi papá trabajó en la construcción, en ese país, de la carretera internacional que cruza toda América. Increíblemente papi era todo un aventurero, se metía machete en mano entre la selva Amazona a abrir camino, se enfrentaba a cocodrilos, pirañas y otros animales salvajes y hasta a huelgas de trabajadores, todo con mami a su lado. Al final salieron del país corriendo cuando el pueblo se sublevó y obtuvo su independencia del Imperio Británico. Toda esta historia viene porque mientras vivían allá mi abuelo les mandó desde aquí varias maletas con sus pertenencia y recuerdos de niñez y adolescencia, incluyendo todas las fotos de ellos en esas épocas. Parece un cuento, pero el avión en el que iban las maletas se cayó en la selva Amazona y todas esas fotos y recuerdos se perdieron (los monitos, si los hay allí, deben estar usando sus ropas y tener las fotos colgadas de los árboles más de 50 años después). Esta foto se la trajo a mami en el fin de semana una prima que estaba revisando las cosas de su mamá (la madrina de mami) y la encontró. No me canso de ver la foto pues ya por fin puedo ponerle una cara a la niña traviesa protagonista de todas las historias que mami me hace de cuando era pequeña y sus aventuras en La Vega y Arenoso. En esta foto no pasará de 4 o 5 años. Era y sigue siendo bella.
